What Customers Say About Canon PIXMA iP6220D Photo Printer:

Isn't that the way it's supposed to work. The printer software will try to tell me the ink cartridge is nearly empty way prematurely. It is a reasonably attractive printer. At this point, I have spent enough on ink to buy another printer or two. Nope, next time around, same thing.

Like, I will have 3-6 weeks of ink left when it starts to nag me to change the ink. Now, I just ignore the warning and wait until I can see for myself a degradation in printing output. The printhead finally went out on that one, and if you have ever replaced a printhead, you know that they are expensive, and sometimes the new one doesn't last very long.I have had this printer for about a year now, and I paid about $10.00 more for it than the cost of a new printhead, so it is a great value. This is my only dislike for this printer, and why it gets 4 stars instead of 5.The footprint of the printer is kind of wide, kind of tall, but not very deep. It just prints really, really good photos. The printer takes 2 multi-color ink cartridges, one being a standard tri-color cartridge and the other a tri-color photo cartridge. This printer replaced another Canon that I had had for about three years.

This printer takes 9 different camera cards and has a small display that you can look at your pictures in prior to printing, without having to go to the computer. The output, no matter what you are printing, is excellent. They each cost about $25.00. When I first got the printer, I bought that once. Mine doesn't take up much room on a standard printer stand. a really great little printer. I am sitting here looking at a photo calendar I printed for 2009, and it looks like it was done in a lab.

I thought the ink cartridge that came with the printer started out low.

The only problem is that it is extremely slow, and does not have an easy way to print in black and white, or to designate whether you want to use photo ink or ordinary color ink. Factory Refurbished unit is as good as new, and a great deal for only $50 including shipping. It is especially slow on the first print after startup, which is often for me, because I turn it off to conserve electricity.

In addition, the paper must be inserted perfectly straight or sometimes it tends to feed out a little crooked.I would definitely recommend this printer for someone who needs a good quality inexpensive printer for everyday printing needs and for printing nice and clear photos. It does fit nicely on my computer desk without weighing it down, whereas my MP760 is a 30-lb space hogging monster. I don't know what could have happened in that case but I have had no problems with any external devices conflicting with Vista. I have an older Gateway pc with XP SP2 installed on it and have a Canon Pixma MP760 printer (wonderful printer). I read a negative review that said this printer wouldn't work with Vista. It costs that much to replace the ink cartridges, so I could have used up the ink and thrown out the printer, but with so much garbage coming out of China these days when I buy something of decent quality I'm keeping it.The only negatives I see, which aren't a big enough deal to take a star away is that those all-in-one ink cartridges are costly, over the single ink cartridges like the ones my MP760 uses, but then again, the more expensive printers use the single ink cartridges.

Also, the printer is light and plastic, which some people might think is flimsy, but I haven't had a problem with it "walking" when it prints. attached to it. My pc recognized it immediately. But it could have something to do with the fact that I built the Vista pc from scratch and have no bloated manufacturers software on it.The printer prints fairly fast and with clear print quality. Since I have most of my photo software setup on that pc, I didn't want to move the MP760 to my newer pc that has Vista 32-bit installed on it, so I found this Pixma iP6220D at a real bargain about a year ago. I have owned several Canon printers over the years and they are my number 1 choice, in ease of use and beautiful prints.

I didn't even use the installation CD. I have to admit my much more expensive MP760 is superior over the iP6220D, but you get what you pay for and I got this printer at a bargain price of $50.

I bought this photo printer for my mom to give to my teen daughter. She loves it and takes & prints pictures all the time because it is so easy to use.

It's small enough to fit and not take up a lot of space. I ordered this printer for my daughter and family (3 children) for Christmas - they take a lot of photos of the children and it's great to be able to print them right off the camera. The printer works great - and now I want one too.
